Who exactly is Emily Carrier?

Hello there! I'm Emily Carrier, an artist, illustrator, and all around nerd. I am a freelance Illustrator who works primarily on children's books and character designs. I have studied illustration for four years at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). SCAD has provided me with many tools and techniques to add to my illustrator repertoire. I was even fortunate enough to have the opportunity to study abroad in Lacoste, France. Lacoste is a charming village in Provence, where I was able to study culture and art and apply it to my work. What an amazing experience!

I have been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon. My love for art only grew with time. Now, my art style can be described as whimsical and quirky. I focus on character design and children's illustrations. I love working with pen and ink and adding watercolor over top the ink drawing. I use heavy line work in my illustrations, especially in the hair and clothing. My line work is quite gestural and playful and adds a unique flare to my pieces.

I am  heavily inspired by the works of Disney artists. Some of my favorite Disney movies are Hunchback of Notre DameBeauty and the Beast, and Tangled. Of course, I love them all, really. I am also a massive fan of Doctor Who. It is probably the best show there has ever been. Supernatural is a great show, too. In my spare time I am usually watching my favorite shows and movies over and over and over again. Or I could be reading a good fantasy novel. Or playing with my cats. Like I said before, I am a complete nerd.
